1. What is a visiting visa?
According to the Vietnam Visa Information Page, a relative visiting visa (TT visa) is a type of visa issued to foreigners who have foreign relatives or people with Vietnamese nationality sponsoring them for the purpose of returning to Vietnam to live or visit.
Thus, a visiting visa is a type of visa issued to foreigners who want to come to Vietnam to visit relatives, family, friends or participate in personal family activities. This is a form of non-commercial visa and usually has a short term.
2. Eligible subjects are granted and guaranteed a visa to visit relatives in Vietnam
Pursuant to the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, visiting visas are issued to foreigners in the following cases:
(1) Foreigners whose parents are Vietnamese nationals or foreign nationals sponsor;
(2) Foreigners whose spouse is a Vietnamese citizen or a foreign citizen sponsor;

According to Consolidated Document 27/VBHN-VPQH, regulations on visa symbols are as follows:
(1) NG1 - Issued to members of the guest delegation of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister;
(2) NG2 - Issued to members of guest delegations of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice President, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, Director of the Supreme People's Procuracy, State Auditor General; members of the guest delegation at the same level of the Minister or equivalent, Provincial Party Secretary, City Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council, Chairman of the People's Committee of the province or centrally run city;

(5) LV1 - Issued to people working with departments, agencies and units directly under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; National Assembly, Government, Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuracy, State Audit, ministries, ministerial-level agencies, agencies under the Government ; Provincial Party Committee, City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of provinces and centrally run cities;
(6) LV2 - Issued to people working with socio-political organizations, social organizations, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
(7) LS - Issued to foreign lawyers practicing in Vietnam;

Question 1: Duration of visiting visa?

Pursuant to the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam 2014, regulations on visa duration are as follows;
(1) The maximum duration of a TT visit visa is no more than 1 year (12 months).
(2) Foreigners sponsoring foreigners, if the sponsored person is over 18 years old, the visa validity period shall not exceed 6 months.
However, depending on the specific case, the visa-issuing agency may issue a visa shorter than the prescribed time or the time requested by the foreigner. Foreigners who wish to stay in Vietnam for longer than 1 year can apply for a temporary residence card to visit relatives.
Question 2: Time limit for processing visa application procedures at the Vietnam Immigration Agency?

According to Circular 31/2015/TT-BCA, within 05 working days from the date of receiving complete documents, The Immigration Department or the Immigration Management Department of the Provincial or Central City Police shall consider issuing temporary residence cards.
So, after 05 working days is the deadline to process the procedure for applying for a visit visa at the Vietnam Immigration Agency.
