On 22th November, 2023, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Notice 5015/TB-LDTBXH on the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday in 2024 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and other workers.

Detail, Notice 5015/TB-LDTBXH determine specific holiday schedules for 02 subjects as follows:
(1) For officials, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations (hereinafter referred to as civil servants and public employees):
- New Year holiday schedule: from Thursday, February 8, 2024 to Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (as from December 29, Quy Mao year to January 5, Giap Thin year). This vacation period includes 05 days off for Tet holidays and 02 days off to compensate for weekly holidays;
- National Day holiday schedule: from Saturday, August 31, 2024 to Tuesday, September 3, 2024. This vacation period includes 02 days off for National Day and 02 days off of weekly holidays.

(2) For employees who are not subject to (1), the employer decides to choose the plan for the New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2024 as follows:
- New Year holiday schedule: choose 01 last day of the Quy Mao year and 04 first days of the Giap Thin year or 02 last days of the Quy Mao year and 03 first days of the Giap Thin year or 03 last days of the Quy Mao year and 02 first days of the Giap Thin year;
- National Day holiday schedule: Monday, September 2nd, 2024 and choose 01 of 02 days: Sunday, September 1st, 2024 or Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024.
Remarks: For employers in non-state sectors:
- Must notify the plan for New Year holidays and National Day holidays in 2024 to employees at least 30 days before implementation;
- If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday, they need to arrange for the employee to take off the weekly day off on the next working day;
- Encourage employers to apply the New Year holidays for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees.
Thus, the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedule in 2024 for public sector workers have been specifically determined. For other sectors, the employer will decide and specifically notify employees at least 30 days in advance.
Notice 5015/TB-LDTBXH takes effect from November 22, 2023.
